Fig. 1Measurements of keratocystic odontogenic tumor in the mandible using axial computed tomographic images. A. The longest mesiodistal dimension of the cystic lesion is measured parallel to the long axis of the mandibular body. B. The longest bucco-lingual dimension of the cystic lesion is measured perpendcular to the long axis of the mandibular body.
Fig. 2Measurements of keratocystic odontogenic tumor in the maxilla using axial computed tomographic images. A. The longest mesiodistal dimension of the cystic lesion is measured parallel to the coronal plane of the maxilla. B. The longest bucco-lingual dimension of the cystic lesion is measured parallel to the sagittal plane of the maxilla.
Demographic information on keratocystic odontogenic tumor
Location of lesions. One patient may have multiple locations

Treatment groups
Comparison between keratocystic odontogenic tumor dimension and initial symptom
Paired t-test. Significant difference between non-symptomatic and symptomatic at level of 0.05.
Comparison between keratocystic odontogenic tumor dimension and cortical discontinuity
Paired t-test. Significant difference between non-symptomatic and symptomatic at level of 0.05.
Descriptive statistics for dental expenses by keratocystic odontogenic tumor size
Tukey's post hoc testa,b,c. The same superscript number means that the group belongs to the same statistical subgroup. In order to perform statistical analysis, estimated dental expenses were then classified into 4 groups according to the values. The dental expenses increased from group1 to group4.
The number of teeth removed from the jaws according to the keratocystic odontogenic tumor dimension
Tukey's post hoc testa,b. The same superscript number means that the group belongs to the same statistical subgroup.
The number of root canal treatments in the jaws according to the keratocystic odontogenic tumor dimension
Tukey's post hoc testa,b,c. The same superscript number means that the group belongs to the same statistical subgroup.
Relationship of variables to initial symptoms
Pearson's chi-squared test. Significant difference between non-symptomatic and symptomatic at level of 0.05.
