A hyaluronate secretor in the nasal mucosa: a cytochemical study using hyaluronidase-gold.

M Tachibana1, H Morioka.

Abstract

The ultrastructural distribution of hyaluronate in the nasal mucosa of Wistar rats, especially in secretory cells, was examined by hyaluronidase-gold labeling using electron microscopy. The main secretor of hyaluronate in the nasal mucosa was found to be the goblet cells and not the nasal glands.
