BACKGROUND: During public health emergencies, the Military Health System experiences challenges similar to those across the U.S. public and private health systems. Total actual cost and the increase attributed to H1N1 does not include $15.9M spent by DoD to purchase H1N1 vaccine, as this cost could not be allocated to the patient-level data. This additional cost is included in Table III.
