Abstract
Sepsis is a severe complication of critically ill patients that is characterized by the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). The increased levels of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) are related with dysfunction of the cardiovascular system and systemic inflammation. In recent years, BNP and NT-proBNP have been the focus of studies evaluating the severity and prognosis of sepsis. In this study, we will review the role of BNP and NT-proBNP in sepsis.Entities:
