P-values are from independent samples t-tests for continuous variables and from χ2 tests for categorical variables. Waist circumference was missing for n=348 (5%). N=124 (4%) for VLCD and N=124 (4%) for LCD.
Drug use during the last 6 months was assessed via register linkage to the Prescribed Drug Register, while comorbidity, gallstones and cholecystectomies were retrieved from the National Patient Register during the last 5 years (comorbidity and gallstones), or from 1987 and onwards (cholecystectomy history).
