Principles of amputation surgery in children with longitudinal deficiencies of the femur.

R Gillespie1.

Abstract

In children with longitudinal deficiencies and congenital hypoplasia of the femur, the most important issue is the recognition of deficiencies that can be treated by leg-lengthening technology. Surgical management of the more severe cases should be strictly directed toward facilitating prosthesis function.
