Abstract
Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) is a pleiotropic factor with multiple physiological functions in morphogenesis, cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and calcium homeostasis. In the kidney, PTHrP is known to be expressed abundantly and to be upregulated in various experimental nephropathies, showing growth-modulatory and proinflammatory properties. Ardura et al. demonstrate a possible link between PTHrP-induced Runx2 expression and an antiapoptotic effect in tubular epithelial cells.Entities:
