Abstract
Up to the midblastula stage, cell division in Xenopus is directed by maternal mRNAs and proteins that are inherited by the fertilized egg. We have isolated cDNA clones for mRNAs that undergo either adenylation or deadenylation during this developmental period. Coincidental with this poly(A) metabolism are changes in polysomal localization. The relationship between polyadenylation and translation is discussed.Entities:
