Abstract
During the past 100 years, several theories explaining human atherosclerosis have been postulated and tested. More than anything else, experimental and observational evidence has supported a very strong causal role for dyslipidemia. This has been established as the current paradigm in both biomedical research as well as public health policies. Recently, a novel hypothesis for the etiology of atherosclerosis was presented.
