Penile erections in a patient with nearly total absence of REM: a follow-up study.

P Lavie1.

Abstract

A man was previously shown to suffer from a highly localized pontine lesion associated with an almost total absence of rapid-eye-movement (REM) sleep. Sleep recordings conducted 4 years later confirmed the drastic reduction of REM sleep, but demonstrated intact penile erection cycles.
