Abstract
BACKGROUND: 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, dexamethasone and droperidol were used for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Recently, neurokinin-1 (NK1) antagonist has been used for PONV. We evaluated the effect of oral aprepitant premedication in addition to ondansetron.Entities:

Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting, and Retching (RINVR) at N hr after Surgery
N is 6 and 24 inthis study. Nausea distress score: 5, vomiting distress score: 3, retching distress score: 2, nausea occurrence score: 4 + 7, vomiting occurrence score: 1 + 6, retching occurrence score: 8, experience score = occurrence score + distress score, total experience score: sum of all score.
Conversion of Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting and Retching Score to Categorical 5-Point Scale
Patient Characteristics and Operation Information
Data are stated as mean ± SD or count. Control: ondansetron 4 mg, Ap80: aprepitant 80 mg premedication + ondansetron 4 mg, Ap125: aprepitant 125 mg premedication + ondansetron 4 mg. PONV: postoperative nausea and vomiting.
Incidence and Severity of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting at 6 hr after Surgery
Data are stated as number of patients (percentage). Control: ondansetron 4 mg, Ap80: aprepitant 80 mg premedication + ondansetron 4 mg, Ap125: aprepitant 125 mg premedication + ondansetron 4 mg. *P < 0.05 compared to control group.
