Abstract
Neuroinflammation is now a well-characterised feature of neurodegenerative diseases. Immune dysfunction outside the central nervous system is also increasingly recognised as part of the diseases. Peripheral inflammation has emerged as a modulator of disease progression and neuropathology in several neurodegenerative diseases, making it targetable in new therapeutic approaches. In addition, the easy accessibility of blood immune cells and markers makes them ideal candidates for use as possible biomarkers and a potential model of central immune cells.Entities:
