Abstract
The urinary prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) excretion of children with various grades of vesicoureteral reflux who were undergoing reimplant surgery was compared to those of age- and sex-matched controls. Urinary PGE2 excretions were significantly increased in patients with vesicoureteral reflux (p = 0.001). Furthermore, the PGE2 excretion correlated positively with the grade of reflux. Because of the interaction between vasopressin, sodium excretion, and PGE2, elevated urinary PGE2 may partially explain the decreased concentrating capacity seen in children with vesicoureteral reflux.Entities:
