Abstract
The field of heart failure has seen striking advances during the past 50 years, yet the overall economic and social burden imposed by heart failure continues to rise. While neurohormonal models provide many insights in terms of explaining disease progression and informing drug development, mounting clinical evidence suggests that this model provides only a partial explanation of the disease. This paper evaluates the emerging models of heart failure and their potential to reverse the disturbing trends in heart failure morbidity and mortality.Entities:
