Abstract
The influx of physicists to the realm of biology around 1940 represented the birth of molecular biology. Now, with the sequencing of thousands of genomes and the promise of the $1,000 human genome, we find ourselves returning to physics. The cell is a foreign place, one that requires concepts from physics and statistical mechanics to gain a basic understanding.Entities:
