Abstract
The Camitz procedure is a simple tendon transfer for patients who have loss of opposition in longstanding carpal tunnel syndrome. Historically, the Camitz procedure restored abduction only. However, through modification with the use of a pulley, the ideal axis of opposition can be achieved. The purpose of this article was to revisit an established method of the modified Camitz transfer in 6 patients with severe thenar wasting and weakness resulting from median nerve compression, identified between 2010 and 2012. We review the indications, contraindications, surgical technique, complications, and postoperative rehabilitation.Entities:
