Assessment of dangerousness in clinical practice.

Abstract

Physicians, especially psychiatrists, face the daunting task of assessing the risk of dangerousness in clinical settings. This article reviews the research on mental illness and violence and identifies the specific psychiatric symptoms that have been associated with an increased risk of violence.
