Abstract
The endoscopic insertion of the self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) in benign biliary stricture has become an alternative to surgery. Fracture or migration of SEMS can occur rarely as complications. We report a case of fracture of SEMS during endoscopic retrieval in patients with chronic pancreatitis. In this case, broken stent was successfully removed with endoscopic ballooning of bile duct and with a snare device.Entities:

Fig. 1A scout film demonstrated the covered self-expandable metal stent in the common bile duct.
Fig. 2A 10 mm lengthened extraductal part of distal broken self-expandable metal stent was showed.
Fig. 3(A) A proximally migrated biliary remnant self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) with the distal end of broken site (arrow) was showed. (B) Endoscopic papillary balloon dilatation was performed, (C) then to remove the remnant stent, snare grasping the distal part of the remnant SEMS was undergone.
Fig. 4A whole feature of fractured self-expandable metal stent was shown after endoscopic retrieval of the stent.
