Abstract
BACKGROUND: Hospital HIV care and public sexual health care (a Sexual Health Care Centre) services were integrated to provide sexual health counselling and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) testing and treatment (sexual health care) to larger numbers of HIV patients. Services, need and usage were assessed using a patient perspective, which is a key factor for the success of service integration.Entities:

Importance was rated on a 4-point scale: 1 not important, 2 somewhat important, 3 important, 4 very important.
The quality of improvement was calculated by subtracting provider performance (4-point scale; 1=never to 4=always) from the patient importance score; quality of improvement scores below zero represent no need for improvement.
