Abstract
The psychiatric complications and adaptation disorders observed in patients with chronic renal failure under maintenance haemodialysis are reviewed. The main psychiatric complications are depressive manifestations, while the main adaptation disorders are lack of compliance with food and water restrictions and temperamental relations with the husband or wife or the dialysis team. The mechanisms of some disorders are analyzed, and emphasis is placed on the usefulness of psychiatric and/or psychological assistance not only to the patient but also to his wife and to the medical staff.Entities:
