Sir,The recent report on multifocal cysticercosis and optical coherence tomography is interesting.1 Agarwal et al, reported a rare case and concluded that “presence of neurocysticercosis, the removal of the subretinal cyst should be performed prior to the initiating oral anti-helminthic drugs.”1 Indeed, the surgical removal is usually successful in management of such conditions in the previous reports.23 However, the role of the concomitant use of medication should be stated. It is also reported that “drug therapy with intravitreous corticosteroids associated with systemic steroids showed to be an alternative approach to control inflammation following vitreoretinal surgery.”4 As a conclusion, the author would like to make these recommendation on management of intraocular cysticercosis:early diagnosis is important and this ocular infestation should be considered in the differential diagnosis, use of concomitant drug therapy prior to and after core surgical removal is suggested, monitoring for recurrence is necessary andclose follow up with ocular examination is needed.
