Abstract
The ure operon was significantly more prevalent in Haemophilus influenzae isolates causing otitis media and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-associated bronchitis than in those from throats of healthy individuals (97% versus 78.1%, P < 0.001). Strains lacking the ure operon are over 8 times more likely to be from the throat than either otitis media or COPD isolates.Entities:
