Prenatal cocaine use. Effects on perinatal outcome.

J R Janke1.

Abstract

Use of cocaine during pregnancy has been associated with increased perinatal morbidity and mortality. It is known to interfere with both physical and psychosocial development of the neonate. This article explores the pathology of cocaine use in pregnancy, its effect on neonatal development, and the role of the nurse-midwife in the perinatal setting.
