Abstract
BACKGROUND: Polydipsia frequently occurs in schizophrenia patients. The excessive water loading in polydipsia occasionally induces a hyponatremic state and leads to water intoxication. Whether polydipsia in schizophrenic patients correlates with neuropsychological impairments or structural brain changes is not clear and remains controversial.Entities:

Figure 1Significant regional GM/WM volume reduction. (a) PS < NS. (b) PS < HC.P < 0.001 uncorrected with an extent threshold of 50 contiguous voxels displayed on the MNI template (avg152T1). The right side of each section represents the right side of the brain. The z coordinate in MNI space is indicated in each section.
