Endoscopic management of urethral stricture: "cut to the light" procedure.

M P Leonard1, J Emtage, R Perez, A Morales.

Abstract

Traumatic and iatrogenic urethral strictures present serious management difficulties. Classically their repair has been done through transpubic or perineal approaches. We have investigated the endoscopic route. In this study, 6 patients with dense posterior urethral strictures were managed endoscopically. The results of this "cut to the light" technique compare favorably with the more elaborate open procedures. The operation can be performed easily and carries very low morbidity.
