Abstract
The European and German-speaking urology was decisively influenced at the beginning of the twentieth century by several important protagonists who also brought international recognition to the discipline. In this context Alexander von Lichtenberg should not be forgotten. His time in the military in Kaschau (Slovakian Košice) has previously only been insufficiently studied. In 1916 von Lichtenberg was appointed as professor by the University of Strassburg and in the same year called up for military service in the Austro-Hungarian army stationed in Kaschau. During World War I (1916-1918) he was director of a military hospital and director of the Royal Hungarian Ministry of Invalids. He was only active in Kaschau for 2 years but by the collaboration with Kňazovický he influenced not only surgery but also urology after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Košice in Czechoslovakia.Entities:
