Abstract
A basal cell carcinoma with prominent focal squamous differentiation of the right nasolabial fold resulted in leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, despite appropriate surgical excision of the primary lesion. The controversy surrounding the origin, diagnosis, and prognosis of a basal cell carcinoma with squamous differentiation is reviewed. Potential routes of metastasis leading to the subsequent leptomeningeal carcinomatosis are discussed.Entities:
