Abstract
Body of knowledge around the There has been considerable progress in the care of the diabetic foot over the last three decades. The development of multidisciplinary diabetic foot care has provided specialist management of the neuropathic foot and the neuroischemic foot. Significant progress has been made in the treatment of both of these entities. The crucial aspects of therapy are the treatment of infection, relief of ischemia and promotion of wound healing. The multidisciplinary, hospital-based diabetic foot clinic has proved to be a successful way of reducing amputations and improving outcomes. This review summarises the major advances in the care of the diabetic neuroischaemic foot. These have greatly improved the outlook and prognosis for diabetic patients with ischemic foot problems.Entities:
