Acknowledging joint first authors of published work: the time has come.

Erin Dubnansky, M Bishr Omary.

Abstract

We are delighted to introduce a new and simple format in the references section of the articles we publish in Gastroenterology that highlights joint first authors of citations. We believe this is an important step to acknowledging equal contribution to published work as research becomes increasingly team-oriented and interdisciplinary.
