Abstract
Ralph M. Steinman was the recipient of the 2011 Nobel Prize of Physiology and Medicine due to the discovery of dendritic cells, which have a crucial role on the onset of acquired immunity, a fundamental event in the organism's defense. Today, dendritic cells are used in the development of vaccines and in cancer therapy. Steinman's contributions have been fundamental in the understanding of immunity.Entities:
