Abstract
Strongyloides stercoralis hyperinfection poses a great challenge to physicians in the tropics due to their non-specific symptoms and signs. Early identification and initiation of treatment improves mortality rates. Reports of Strongyloides infection in Hansens disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), organ transplant recipients and malnourished individuals have been reported in the published literature. The outcomes were variable, which may be attributed to a lack of treatment protocol. Treatment has been individualized and reports available are based on individual case reports and small case series. We report a successfully treated case of hyperinfection in SLE and discuss the various treatment options available.Entities:
