Abbreviations: M, male; Dx, diagnosis; MH, macular hole; PVR, proliferative vitreoretinopathy; VH, vitreous hemorrhage; RD, retinal detachment; pre-, preoperative; post-, postoperative; BCVA, best-corrected visual acuity; HM, hand motion; IOP, intraocular pressure; IOL, intraocular lens implantation; PPV, pars plana vitrectomy; SF6, sulfur hexafluoride tamponade; SO, silicone oil tamponade; PVD, posterior vitreous detachment; C, complete; IC, incomplete; Qt, quadrant; I, inferior; TI, temporal inferior; S, superior; R, retinotomy.
Figure 1Intraoperative views of ocular contusion with a baseball. In all cases, a thin layer of localized vitreous adhesion (white arrowheads) was observed, overlapping the retinal degenerative areas, even after surgical posterior vitreous detachment. Triamcinolone acetonide was used to facilitate visualization of the vitreous and posterior hyaloid. (A) Case 1, (B) Case 2, (C) Case 3, (D) Case 4, (E) Case 5.
