An unusual necrotizing dermatitis after a single application of topical benzoin and pressure bandage for enucleation of an eye.

Abstract

We report on a patient who developed necrotizing contact dermatitis after a single topical application of tincture of benzoin and a pressure bandage following enucleation of an eye. The toxicity manifested in this case was more severe than any documented previously in the ophthalmic literature.
