Abstract
Delirious mania is an under recognised clinical syndrome and little evidence is available to clarify its clinical characteristics and treatment. We analyse a case of delirious mania that was a challenge to treat. It shows the importance of recognising catatonia as a symptom of delirious mania. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and mood stabilisers (lithium and valproate combination) proved to be effective treatments in our case, but a variety of factors contributed to a delay in treatment response.Entities:
