The best two-variable model with deviance 92.9 and Hosmer-Lemeshow test, χ2 = 0.92; P = 0.1. The best three-variable model with deviance 132.3 and Hosmer-Lemeshow test, χ2 = 11.62; P = 0.17. Factors not analyzed in the multivariable analysis for multiresistant A. baumannii acquisition: (a) duration of enteral feeding tube, of arterial and urinary tract catheterization during hospitalization due to collinearity with duration of mechanical ventilation, and (b) antibiotic use and mechanical ventilation before acquisition, as they were found in all patients with acquisition. Propofol administration was not analyzed in the multivariable analysis for acquisition, as categoric variable, because of clinical criteria. CI, confidence interval; CVC, central venous catheter; ICU, intensive care unit; ODIN, Organ Dysfunctions and/or Infection; OR, odds ratio.

Figure 2Dendrogram illustrating genetic diversity among multiresistant . Molecular analysis revealed one predominant cluster (III) of A. baumannii isolates among other minor ones (I, II, V). Cluster III included study isolates A1-2-3-5-6, B2-5-7, C1-2-5-6-7, D2-3-4-5-6, E6-7-8, F1-2-4-5-6, and G1-2-4-6-7-8. Ten (62.5%) of 16 imported strains and 23 (72%) of 32 acquired strains belonged to cluster III.
