Abstract
Hereditary polycystic kidney disease (PKD) was observed in a Han:SPRD rat mutant. Cysts were of tubular origin and occurrence was more pronounced in males than in females. In male rats polycystic kidney disease was associated with a marked elevation of systolic blood pressure. Therefore this rat mutant can be considered as a laboratory animal model for renal hypertension associated with adult polycystic kidney disease in man.Entities:
