Abstract
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase I has been viewed historically as the sole regulator of fatty acid oxidation. However, we have identified fatty acid translocase/CD36 as an additional control point. Specifically, fatty acid translocase/CD36 seems to have a novel dual mechanism of action with regard to fatty acid oxidation during exercise, influencing transport of lipids across the sarcolemmal membrane and into the mitochondria.Entities:
