Abstract
The objective of this study was to learn what adolescents understand as appropriate delivery care. Data were collected through individual interviews with adolescents who delivered at a University Hospital in southern Brazil, between July 2008 and October 2009. A thematic analysis was performed, based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Health regarding humanized delivery. Theme nuclei emerged related to the need for care, guidance and respect. Care appeared as a significant and primordial factor, characterized by understanding, dialogue and an active participation in the delivery process, marked by a timely attention to their needs, understanding their unfamiliarity with the routines and procedures, having a good interaction with the team and not being seen as passive subjects.Mesh:
