[Lichen sclerosus can also be seen in children].

Abstract

Lichen sclerosus in children is an uncommon skin disease with a predilection for the genital region. The disease is primarily seen in prepubertal girls and postmenopausal women. We present two cases of four year-old girls referred with classical symptoms but a long diagnostic latency. One of the girls had a classic porcelain white plaque in a figure-of-eight pattern encircling the vaginal introitus and perianal area. The other girl presented with vulvar bleeding raising a suspicion of sexual abuse. Both children were treated with potent topical steroids with an effective response.
