Abstract
Malignant melanoma originating in the urethra is considered extremely rare and has a very poor prognosis. Consequently, therapeutic reviews are retrospective describing assorted treatments. We report how to perform a radical urethrectomy with bladder preservation and a continent catheterizable stoma (Yang-Monti technique) Radical urethrectomy with bladder preservation and a continent catheterizable stoma may be appropriate in selected patients with tumours that do not invade the bladder neck.Entities:

Figure 1The attachments of the urethra to the urogenital diaphragm are exposed and divided lateral to the urethra to obtain 2.5-cm surgical margins
Figure 2Detubularization of the ileal segment (flap definition). A 2.5-cmsection of ileum is mobilized on its mesentery after the appropriate bowel preparation. The short cylindrical ileal segment is split on its antimesenteric margin (longitudinally) and unfolded into a long thin strip which is then rolled along its long axis to form a long thin cylinder (transversally). By this reconfi guration, the initial circumference of the segment is converted to the length, and the original length to the circumference of the reconfi gured tube
Figure 3Experience has shown that one need not achieve a long tunnel in the bladder or reservoir to achieve continence with such a small tube, the longer limb has typically been used to reach the bladder and the short limb through the thick abdominal wall. Once sewn together in this confi guration the ileum appears and functions similar to an appendix
