Abstract
BACKGROUND: Monitoring of biochemical markers of inflammation in acute mediastinitis (AM) can be useful in the modification of treatment. This study was a retrospective evaluation of selected biochemical parameters with negative impact on the prognosis in surgically treated patients. MATERIAL/Entities:

Figure 1Average values of investigated biochemical parameters. The parameters were combined together in one figure concerning similar values of means: RBC [106/ml], HGB [mg/dL], WBC [103/dL], PCT [μg/dL], K [mEq/dL], PLT [105/dl], CRP [μg/dL], and Na [mEq/dL], HTC [%], Proteins [mg/dL], and Albumin [mg/dL].
