Abstract
A brief review of the major detection systems used in the field of biotechnology is presented. The focus is on immunoassay and DNA probing applications and on systems that show promise of extreme sensitivity. Specific examples are discussed to illustrate approaches which introduce chemical, enzymatic, or exponential amplification. The author's projections for the next 5-10 years in this field are expressed.Mesh：
