A case of sporotrichosis caused by two genetically different Sporothrix schenckii strains.

Abstract

Two Sporothrix schenckii strains of different mitochondrial DNA restriction profiles were isolated from different cutaneous lesions in a 53 year-old woman with sporotrichosis. These results suggest that sporotrichosis can be simultaneously caused by two or more genetically different S. schenckii strains.
