Abstract
Blood blister-like aneurysms (BBA) originate at non-branching sites of the internal carotid artery (ICA). These aneurysms present a fragile wall and a poorly defined broad-based neck. Recognition of the BBA is essential for proper management of these vascular lesions. Various surgical and endovascular strategies have been attempted for these heterogeneous lesions. These have been associated with significant morbidity and mortality including rebleeding, regrowth, ischemic and thromboembolic complications. The authors review the key elements important for diagnosis and management of BBA and review current treatment options.Entities:
