Abstract
A case of celiac artery embolism in a patient with factor V Leiden thrombophilia is reported. The embolism was likely due to an undetected cardiac thrombus, causing an abdominal aortic embolism. The patient underwent emergency surgery for the abdominal embolism. The celiac artery embolism was treated nonsurgically due to the presence of collateral circulation through the gastroduodenal artery from the superior mesenteric artery. The patient fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital one month after his first referral.Entities:
