Lithium antagonism of ethanol-induced depletion of cerebellar guanosine-3',5'-cyclic monophosphate and stimulation of striatal dopamine release.

W A Hunt, M E Goldman.

Abstract

Long-term lithium treatment antagonized the behavioral intoxication, depletion of cerebellar guanosine-3,5'-cyclic monophosphate and stimulation of striatal dopamine release induced by a single dose of ethanol. Blood ethanol concentrations were significantly reduced after lithium treatment in a dose-dependent manner.
