Abstract
This report examines the characteristics of 124 patients with typhoid ileal perforation treated over a 17-year period ending in 1986. Three adverse prognostic determinants were identified: prolonged fever/perforation interval, prolonged perforation/operation interval and multiple perforations. Simple closure was performed in 74 patients with a mortality of 31.1%, and trimming of the ulcer with closure in 38 patients with a 7.9% mortality.Entities:
