Abstract
Two patients with a necrotizing soft tissue infection of the scrotum and perineum are described. The etiology was found to be a gram negative synergistic gangrene. Patients were managed with extensive necrotectomy with a planned second look operation and supportive antibiotics (aminoglycosides, amoxicillin, metronidazole). Despite this aggressive approach one of the patients died of ongoing necrosis. The therapeutic management for necrotizing soft tissue infection comprises early surgical intervention with supportive antibiotic treatment. Nevertheless the disease is associated with a high mortality rate.Entities:
