Abstract
BACKGROUND: Ethnic differences in body fat mass and distribution may develop in childhood and contribute to increased obesity-related disease risk among Asians. We used dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to evaluate adiposity measures among adult women and their adolescent daughters, who were of predominantly Japanese and white ethnicity.Entities:

Figure.Distributions of trunk/peripheral fat ratio in mothers (top) and daughters (bottom) by ethnic category; P values are based on log-transformed data, with whites as reference, and Ptrend values are generated using ethnicity as a continuous variable in the order of white, mixed/other, part-Asian, and Asian. The horizontal lines from the bottom to the top correspond to the 10th, 25th, 50th (median), 75th, and 90th percentiles, and the circle represents the arithmetic mean.
