Abstract
Nearly 70 years after the discovery of penicillin, neurologic infectious diseases (NIDs) remain an important worldwide source of morbidity and mortality. The clinician faced with a potential NID must urgently consider patient demographics, pace of illness and clinical syndrome, and laboratory data. In keeping with the topics of this issue, initial emergency diagnosis and management are emphasized, with appropriate references to relevant literature for subsequent longer-term interventions.Entities:
